Advertisement Artists - Susan Perl

If you were a child of the 1960s or 70s, chances are you read a storybook or two illustrated by Susan Perl.
Born in Austria, Perl studied art in Vienna before moving to the U.S. in 1939 after the Nazis invaded her country.
In America, teen-aged Perl landed herself a job as a staff artist at Vogue Magazine and started her long career as an illustrator.

In 1960s, Perl started illustrating ads for the children's clothing company Health-tex. The best known ads were from the "The Handy Answers to Hard Questions Asked by Children in the Health-tex Years," campaign. This series answered commonly asked questions by young children, wearing Health-Tex clothing as drawn by Perl.

Susan Perl passed away in 1983 at the young age of 60.
